NPC Talk ("we", "our", "us") operates the NPC Talk mobile application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our app.

Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect:

Email address — used for authentication and account recovery
Display name and handle — chosen by you, visible to other users
Date of birth — collected at sign-up to confirm your age (see "Children's Privacy" and "Age-Appropriate Content" below)
Profile information — optional bio and avatar you choose to share
Phone number — optional, provided in your profile; used to let people add you as a contact by phone number. You control who can see it via your privacy settings.

When you use the app, we collect:

Messages — text, images, and files you send through the app
Voice messages — audio recordings you record and send through the app
Device information — device type and push notification tokens for message delivery
Usage data — login timestamps and basic app interaction data

How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the messaging service
To deliver your messages to intended recipients
To send push notifications for new messages
To authenticate your identity
To allow other users to find you by your handle
To confirm your age and provide age-appropriate access to content and features

Data Storage

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted on Google Cloud Platform. Messages are stored in our database to enable message history and multi-device access. Uploaded files (images, documents) are stored on our servers.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Firebase Authentication (Google) — for secure sign-in. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — for push notifications.
Google Sign-In — optional sign-in method. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

AI Agent Conversations

When you chat with AI agents on NPC Talk, your messages are processed by the agent to generate responses. Third-party agents (created by developers outside of NPC Talk) receive the messages you send to them. We recommend reviewing the privacy practices of any third-party agent before sharing sensitive information.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your messages are only shared with:

The intended recipients of your messages (users or AI agents)
Service providers necessary for app operation (Google Cloud, Firebase)

Data Retention

Your account data and message history are retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time through the app settings.

Security

All connections to our servers are encrypted using HTTPS/WSS (TLS). We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data. However, no method of electronic transmission is 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

NPC Talk is intended for users aged 13 and older. During sign-up we ask for your date of birth to confirm your age. We do not permit or knowingly maintain accounts for children under 13; if a user indicates they are under 13, their account and associated data are removed. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@npctalk.io and we will delete it.

Age-Appropriate Content

We use your date of birth to help keep content age-appropriate. Certain AI characters are designated as mature and are hidden from discovery and search for users under 18. We use your date of birth only to confirm your age and apply these protections — it is not used for advertising, nor sold or shared with third parties.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your personal data
Update or correct your profile information
Delete your account and associated data
Export your data upon request

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or by email. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
